It had immediately adopted a series of humanitarian measures which included a contribution of Rs 10 lakhs to the CM Relief Fund by the Hon’ble Chancellor, Prof. Samit Ray. Additionally, the university offered its campus to be used as a quarantine centre with a maximum of 1000 beds for isolated persons, along with quarters for doctors and health professionals despite being a non-medical university. The university is taking full care of the food and logistics of the persons who are staying there as COVID suspects and the authority is ensuring regular sanitization of the area and the isolation wards.
The university adapted to online classes very smoothly. 250 faculty members and 3500 students responded to this digital shift and contributed to knowledge sharing through zoom classes, webinars etc. They provided the students with a digital library for easy access of e-books, e-journals for broadening the horizon of learning. The university also introduced online training and digital internships for placed students.
On this occasion, Prof Samit Ray, Chancellor, Adamas University said, “It is a moment of pride for us. Our professors and the whole team have not left any stone unturned to expand learning even during the lockdown. Adamas University is among those top-notch universities which has not compromised with the current situation. Hence this year’s Academic Plan has been drawn up keeping on mind state and central govt directives, UGC protocols and safety and well-being of all our stakeholders. We are committed to giving back to society and hence we offered land for isolation centres. All these initiatives are a part of our #AdamasUniversityCares which is completely focused on taking the best possible measures to support the nation during this pandemic. I pray that we all quickly overcome the situation and get back to our normal life. We are also very proud to inform that the student who got placed through campus hiring have secured their jobs. We would also like to add that this year we will conduct all semester exams in July and all the new batches start from 1st September.”
Also speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Deependar Kumar Jha said, “We are deeply committed to offering academic flexibility to our students on various matters, including curriculum, classes, attendance, examinations, assessment, resits and all other matters keeping in mind the paramount interests of students.
The document also captures how the university has set up a Task Force to materially and intellectually contribute to the battle against the disease and its impact. The university understands how we are all undergoing unprecedented times where our biggest priorities are to ease our anxieties and promote mental wellbeing. Students who are at the juncture of finishing one phase of education and getting into the next are truly at crossroads. To address their concerns and handhold them, so that they do not end up selecting a wrong path in career, Adamas has come up with a unique initiative – ‘Each One Reach One’. The objective of this initiative is to inspire, motivate, counsel and educate the students who are facing challenges with the current education system. Usage of technology will be rampant to execute this initiative. A task force formed with a mix of academicians and students will reach out to students who are in Class XII and are confused about their path ahead and guide them through counselling, webinars and virtual seminars. In this process, Adamas University will not only help them to take the right decision about their future but also guide them about career options by supporting them mentally to fight agony and depression in this time of uncertainty.
