Amity Education Group To Set Up New Harrow International Schools
Harrow International School is planned to open in India and New York beginning September 2023.
Founded on Harrow's traditions and educational principles, Amity Education Group has entered an agreement with Harrow School to set up four new campuses in India and one in New York. The first new school is set to open in September 2023.
The Harrow International Schools in India and New York will be privately owned and operated by Amity. Harrow International School Bengaluru in India and Harrow International School New York in the USA will be coeducational and offer both day and boarding places. Both schools will use Harrow School’s Name and Badge under a sub-license granted by Harrow International Schools Limited (HISL). This is a trading subsidiary of the charity which owns Harrow School and its trademarks, in return for a fee. Funds generated from Harrow-branded schools through HISL are largely used to help fund bursaries at Harrow School and The John Lyon School, which assist students who may not be able to afford the school fee.
The board of each school will also include two HISL representatives.
John Batting, Harrow School’s Chairman of Governors, said: “We are delighted to be expanding the opportunity for students to access a Harrow education in two new geographies with Amity, a foundation with global educational expertise. Our joint aspiration is to establish world-class schools that offer a premium education based on the Harrow Values of courage, honour, humility and fellowship."
Atul Chauhan, Amity’s President and Chancellor, added: “For Amity International Schools, blending modernity with tradition is a fundamental aspect of pedagogy. Our focus is on establishing a global outlook in our students, through an innovative curriculum that promotes their overall development and inculcates deep respect for values. This partnership between two education leaders will bring together Amity’s uncompromising quest for quality education with Harrow’s 450-year-old tradition of outstanding education."
