Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Transformer Of Management Education
All India Council for Technical Education Chairman, Professor Anil D Sahasrabudhe elaborated on Government’s initiative to improve management education at BW Education’s Future of Management Education Conclave.
The future of education is directly associated with the technology. The industry has come up with its fourth revolution but education is somewhere still in its third phase. To evolve and upgrade the education system, Professor Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India discussed the roadmap vision for management education.
At BW Education’s Future of Management Education Conclave on November 12, 2019 in New Delhi, Sahasrabudhe said, “With the advent of new technologies like Artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, etc., we’ll be revising the curriculum as education 4.0 can be achieved only when we merge these technologies associated with industry 4.0 into education."
Industry 4.0 is creating machine-to-machine connections and likewise, if we talk about humans, we need to bring in the collaborative environment for management institutes as a corporation and collaboration is the way forward.
Emphasizing the integration of industry 4.0 with education 4.0, Sahasrabudhe made sure of mandating internship for every management student. He said, “We are offering rural internships along with international exposure. It will help the students to understand the problems and need at the grass-root level and will also facilitate outdoor learning.”
For indoor learning, he mentioned, “Swayam” or Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds, which has come from “MOOC” also known as a massive open online course. Swayam is a Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India driven program that offers online courses from centrally funded institutes.
Over the years, employment has decreased instead of increasing. For which, Sahasrabudhe believes in the need for modernization of thoughts and technology. He suggested sabbatical leaves for first-year students to encourage their original ideas and turning them into startups. If worked well, it will improve the current employment situation; else, the student can come back and continue the study.
His other points of focus were leadership, faculty education, partnership, quality of education and innovation, as these are few of the key areas, which can bring in the transformation in management institutions.
