BMC-Run Cambridge Education School To Come Up In Mumbai
Mumbai to soon have India’s 1st civic body-run Cambridge education school
Mumbai is set to become the first city in India to have a Cambridge-affiliated municipal school that will be free to its residents and impart quality education and learning to students. The inclusion of an international board makes for a special moment in the history of BMC and will go a long way in developing a strong culture of teaching and learning to students of Mumbai Public Schools.
Raising the bar in strengthening quality education among Municipal Schools, the Honourable Minister for Environment, Tourism, Protocol and Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburban district, Aaditya Thackeray had recommended that India’s first Cambridge-affiliated Municipal School be established in Mumbai. Traditionally, the BMC has managed schools affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board and the State Education Department has been continuously working on reforms in these existing schools in Mumbai.
Thackeray emphasised that it was also important to ensure that there is no disparity among students, and they shouldn’t lack any exposure just because they are studying in our Municipal Schools. Working on a vision well ahead of time, the Education Department and its committee proceeded with speed and precision in ensuring this paradigm shift within its municipal schools.
