BSEB Becomes Fastest State Board To Announce Intermediate Exam Results 2020

A total of 80.44 per cent of students across all three streams i.e. Science, Arts and Commerce have passed the examination.

The Bihar School Examination Board has announced the results of intermediate board examinations 2020, becoming the fastest state board to release the results on time.  It has bagged this distinction for the second year in a row. Interestingly, it has shattered its own record and released the 2020 results even faster than in 2019. Three students namely Neha Kumari, Kausar Fatima and Sudhanshu Narayan Choudhary secured the first position across the state. A total of 80.44 per cent of students across all three streams i.e. Science, Arts and Commerce have passed the examination, as compared to 79.76 per cent in the previous year.

Neha Kumari in Science Stream has secured the first position in the entire state of Bihar with a total of 476 marks (95.2 per cent). In the Commerce stream, the first position was bagged jointly by Kausar Fatma and Sudhanshu Narayan Choudhary, scoring a total of 476 marks (95.2 per cent). Sakshy Kumari has topped in the humanities stream by securing 474 marks (94.80 per cent). Anand Kishore, Chairman, Bihar School Examination Board, said, “It gives me immense pleasure to release the results of intermediate board examination which had commenced on 3rd February this year. For the second consecutive year, we have become the first state examination to release the results on time and that too, three days earlier, as compared to the last year. I would like to extend heartiest wishes to the top rank holders as well as those who qualified the examinations.”

“The results were released on time due to the extensive use of technology. In the wake of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we leveraged digital media to expedite the process. The verification and the interview of the top five rankers were conducted via Whatsapp video call on mobile,” he added.  

The Board had also developed new software for result processing with a processing speed of 16 times more than the earlier software. This one-of-a-kind software was also used for the first time in the country that enabled the results to be edited.

A total of 12,04,834 students appeared in the Intermediate Annual Examination in this year out of which 6,56,301 boys and 5,48,533 were girls. Furthermore, a total of 4,43,284 students have passed in the first class, 4,69,439 students in the second class and 56,115 students in the third class.

The Intermediate Annual Examination, 2020 was conducted at 1,283 examination centres of the state between 3rd February 2020 to 13th February 2020 in a peaceful environment with state-of-the-art security measures.

Results at a glance

Result of Science stream

· A total of 5,05,467 students appeared in the stream of Science in the Intermediate Annual Examination, 2020, out of which 3,56,042 were boys and 1,49,425 were girls.

· In the stream of Science of Intermediate Annual Examination, a total of 2,24,971 students have passed in the first class, 1,62,471 students in the second class and 3,601 students have passed in the third class. Thus, a total of 3,91,199 students have passed the stream of Science, which is 77.39 per cent of the candidates appearing in the examination of this stream.

Examination of Commerce stream

· A total of 71,004 students appeared in the Stream of Commerce in the Intermediate Annual Examination, 2020.  A total of 47,060 were boys and 23,944 were girls.

· In the Stream of Commerce of Intermediate Annual Examination, 2020, a total of 43,296 students have passed in the first class, 20,514 students in the second class and 2,401 students have passed in the third class. Thus, a total of 66,215 students passed the stream of Commerce, which is 93.26 per cent of the candidates appeared in the examination of this stream.

Examination of Arts stream

· A total of 6,28,363 students appeared in the stream of Arts in the Intermediate Annual Examination, 2020, including 2,53,199 boys and 3,75,164 girls.

· In the stream of Arts of Intermediate Annual Examination, 2020, a total of 1,75,017 students have passed in the first class, 2,86,454 students in the second class and 50,113 students have passed in the third class. Thus, a total of 5,11,745 students have passed the Arts stream, which is 81.44 per cent of the candidates appeared in the examination of this stream.
