CBSE 12 Board: Over 65k Students Results Delayed
CBSE Board states that delayed results can be expected by 5th August.
The long-anticipated CBSE 12th Class Board results were finally released today. However, over 65,000 students have not received their results. Board stating that this will be released by 5th August.
Why the delay?
Due to the cancellation of the 12 class Board examinations this year, CBSE took on an alternative assessment method. This was based on internal assessment of students, looking at their performance over the last three years of schooling, class 10, 11 and 12. This format required schools to input students data into a portal especially designed by CBSE that would calculate their results. The delay in marks for certain schools stems from schools either submitting wrong data or not submitting the data in time.
- 40 per cent contribution was assigned to Class 12 internal marks - Unit Test/ Mid Term / Pre-Board exam
- 30 per cent weightage was given to marks secured in the theory component from Class 11.
- 30 per cent marks were calculated from the Class 10 theory component of the best three performing subjects out of five.
The comprehensive and tabulation system for Class 12 was designed by the IT team of CBSE under the leadership of Dr Antriksh Joshi. The system automatically calculates the weightage of internal assessments, exams, tests, etc at each level. The system also works, according to CBSE, to calculate marks for non-CBSE candidates.
The pandemic has been a pressing time for all educators and students, everyone having to adapt to the digital setting and reskill themselves. With any new system, problems are inevitable. One can hope that these technical issues be resolved fast, so parents and students' stress can come to an end.
