EdTech Startup WhiteHat Jr Organises Logic And Coding Championship For Kids
To be eligible to participate in the final live event, the kids would have to either register for classes on WhiteHat Jr or pay an entry fee of Rs 1,500.
World’s Logic and Coding Championship for kids, organized by EdTech startup WhiteHat Jr, kick-started today in India and the US. The championship is open to all students and will be conducted over the next six days with the grand finale on July 4. It will conclude with a live virtual event, which is expected to witness participation from more than 50,000 children across India and US. Kids aged 5-14 years can participate in the championship and four winners across different age groups will receive a lifetime scholarship* for their education till grade 12.
The championship is open to both paid subscribers of WhiteHat Jr and non-subscribers who have a keen interest in coding. The first five days will see participants competing in game-based daily challenges and each kid is required to solve 10 multiple choice questions on mathematics, logic, coding and English. They will earn 200 points for every correct answer. These daily challenges can be completed anytime in the day, take about 30 minutes to complete and kids can win exciting prizes like drones, Lego sets and Amazon gift cards every day.
To be eligible to participate in the final live event, the kids would have to either register for classes on WhiteHat Jr or pay an entry fee of Rs 1,500. The 4-hour long virtual event will be conducted on the sixth day, July 4, from 4 pm to 8 pm, local time in India and the US.
Commenting on the championship, WhiteHat Jr’s Founder and CEO, Karan Bajaj said, “Coding is the skill of the future and with this virtual logic and coding championship for kids, our endeavour is to provide a fun and uninhibited ground to kids to put their creativity and analytical skills to best use. By organising this event, our aim is to curate digital experiences that will harness the creative energies of kids, especially during this time when most kids are still not going to schools. We’ve created different age-based categories and WhiteHat Jr will fully sponsor the education of the four winners until they complete their high school education. So, if a class 1 student wins the championship, the entire cost of his education till class 12 will be borne by us.”
Founded in November 2018, WhiteHat Jr helps kids aged 6 to 14 years build commercial-ready games, animations and apps online using the fundamentals of coding. WhiteHat Jr offers four levels of courses – Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Professional – for students in grades 1-9. Kids create complex games, animations and apps using logic, structure, sequence, commands and algorithmic thinking—in a live 1:1 online classroom. Early graduates of the course have created professional-ready apps downloadable on the App Store at ages as young as seven years old.
