Gurucool Felicitated By Jamia Millia Islamia

Adil Meraj, the Founder and CEO of Gurucool was welcomed with a huge round of applause by the students who were waiting for him to share the story of the struggle behind the success of the company

Gurucool, the ed-tech networking platform that offers a suite of phygital tools to connect learners and educators, was invited to a session on Startups and Entrepreneurship, hosted by The Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Jamia Millia Islamia.

Today's economy is being driven by innovation-led youths' aspirations to create new-age start-ups that solve the problems faced by the whole world. Consequently, in an effort to create awareness and guide future leaders for entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership, this session was organised in collaboration with Gurucool, a startup founded by JMI students - Adil Meraj and Khansa Fahad.

The session started with a welcome of the entire panel followed by the keynote address on the fundamental aspects of Entrepreneurship by the event’s guest of Honour, Parvez Jasani along with his wife Zulekha Jasani. Jasani also shared his experiences of his career’s journey with the students. He is an industry leader internationally with over 15 years of experience in the IT and Telecom industry and is an Angel Investor for Gurucool. He is the President of Cellpay.us, the 5th fastest INC 5000 Company in America and also the CEO of Zprepay Inc and Zulie Ventures.

Advancing on, Prof Mohd Ibraheem, the Dean of Faculty of Engineering appreciated the work done by the Gurucool team so far and discussed the importance of having a startup eco-system on the campuses and the need for promoting the same.

He thanked Jasani and the Gurucool team for believing in the vision and working hard to take it forward. Furthermore, by giving the mantra of 'Learning Leads Achievement' to the youth, the young entrepreneur urged them to be always ready to learn and keep learning as it will help them to move forward. He further added that one can be an expert in any one subject, but apart from that, one should always be ready to learn other things because to grow as an entrepreneur, it is necessary to hone your skills as an all-rounder.

Moving ahead with the session, a panel discussion took place which was moderated by Adil Jameel Ahmed, the Academic Lead at Gurucool. Insightful advice for the audience emerged from the discussion, urging the listeners to develop competency to convert ideas into practice with a strategy by using skills, opportunities, creativity and entrepreneurial learning. Along with this, being able to identify the negative and positive sides of entrepreneurship such as taking responsibility, overcoming setbacks, learning about financial methods and having a proper mindset are also some of the many pieces of advice which were discussed. 

The formal session ended with Hammad Shahid, the Brand Lead at Gurucool delivering the vote of thanks to the guests for taking out time from their packed schedules and gracing the occasion and the audience for their interactive participation. Lastly, the Founders of Gurucool Adil Meraj and Khansa Fahad along with the team were felicitated by Prof Simi Malhotra and Prof Mohd Ibraheem for being ‘Impactful Leaders’ and promoting startup culture within the campus of Jamia Millia Islamia.
