IIIT Naya Raipur’s Three-day Virtual Orientation Program For New Batch Of B Tech Comes To An End
During the orientation program, a virtual tour of campus was presented to the Students through the screening of a video.
Leading technical Institute IIIT Naya Raipur (IIIT-NR) recently welcomed this year’s B.Tech students through a virtual orientation program due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The 3-day orientation program was attended by 170 students, faculty members and university staff creating awareness about IIIT-NR’s culture, academics and administration, was key focus along with interaction with students through various sessions.
During the orientation program, a virtual tour of campus was presented to the Students through the screening of a video. Senior Students and alumnus of IIIT Naya Raipur also shared their experience and inspired the students with their experiences in the university.
Addressing the students online, Vice Chancellor and Director Dr. Pradeep K Sinha, said, “We organised the orientation online program keeping in mind the current scenario. As the mode of education is changing, we feel that the new students should also get accustomed to the new normal right from the day one. I would like to extend my warm welcome to all the students & their parents and also like to congratulate students for choosing IIIT Naya Raipur. After getting selected for this institute you have to work towards your new goals.
The three-day event saw Dr. Sinha shared the culture and values of the institute, whereas Dr Amit Agrawal shared the data regarding the training and placements and companies visiting the campus for placements. Dr Punya P. Paltani, Dean, Research, shared about the infrastructure, facilities, hostel among others at the IIIT Naya Raipur. Mr Harish Kumar and Assistant Registrar, discussed about the Institute anti ragging policy. The academic details of the university during the lockdown were presented by Dean, Academics, Dr Rajarshi Mahapatra and later research and innovation details by Dean Research Dr. Punya P. Paltani.
Even Dr Sinha motivated the students through his talk on ‘Expectation and challenges before the 21st century engineers’. A meeting session was held with other panellist Dr Maifuz Ali, who shared the importance of project-based learning. Librarian Mr Ajit K Roy discussed how students can avail the online library facilities during the lockdown. An open house interaction was also conducted to address the queries of the new students.
The online event was attended by dignitaries including Dr. Rajarshi Mahapatra, Dean (Academics), Dr Punya P. Paltani, Dean (Research & Development), Mr. Ranjit K. Senapati, Chief Finance Officer, Dr. Manoj K. Majumder, HMC Chairman and Mr. Harish Kumar, Assistant Registrar.
