We have 800 universities, but a single university in top 100 or even 200 in the world ranking. Today’s decision will help achieve this” Mr. Javadekar tweeted.

The list contains the name of Jio Institute which has not even been launched yet. The government had received a ton of questions on the inclusion of such an institution in the list to which the answer was that the cut under the Greenfield category for new or proposed institutions. On Monday many tagged Education Minister on Twitter in their tweet asking about the Jio institute’s location and other details. According to officials, 11 such institutions had applied for the Institute of Eminence and Jio was selected from among them, as per the reports of NDTV.
