Medical, Paramedical Colleges To Start From December 1 In Karnataka

The colleges were shut since the lockdown from March due to the coronavirus scare.

All the medical and paramedical colleges affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) would resume regular classes from December 1, the Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar said on Friday, November 13, 2020.

The colleges were shut since the lockdown from March due to the coronavirus scare. The Minister tweeted, “The Karnataka government has decided to re-open all the medical, dental, AYUSH, paramedical, nursing and pharmacy colleges affiliated to RGUHS from December 1.”

He asked the administration of colleges and students to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the government regarding the precautionary measures.

The Higher Education Department has also decided to start degree colleges from November 17.

Meanwhile, degree colleges in Bengaluru are set to reopen from November 17, 2020 and have invited students and faculty members to get tested on the campus ahead of the reopening. 

Earlier, the department of higher education formulated SOPs (standardized operating procedures) as per the UGC guidelines, in view of the reopening of degree, engineering, and diploma colleges in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwatha Narayana, who is also the minister of higher education informed that preparation is underway to enable the start of the off-line classes. “The SOP has separate advisories set for the students of the final year and the classes will be conducted accordingly. Likewise, there are separate advisories set for the students of first and second-year students of the courses,” he said.
