Innovation Cell by the Ministry of Education, GoI selects LPU as a ‘Mentor Institution’ under the Mentor-Mentee Program 2021-22
The Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India has selected Lovely Professional University as a ‘Mentor Institution for Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ under the Mentor-Mentee program 2021-22. A total of 50 Institution Innovation Council (IIC) institutions have been selected across the country out of which LPU is the only institute selected from Punjab.
In 2018, the Ministry of Education established Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) program in collaboration with AICTE for Higher Educational Institutions to systematically foster the culture of innovation and start-up ecosystem in educational institutions. It also works on designing the ranking systems to recognize the institutions for their unique innovations.
As a mentor institution, IIC established at LPU will conduct various innovation and entrepreneurship-related activities mentioned by MIC within the given timeline. These activities include periodic workshops/ seminars/ interactions with entrepreneurs, investors, professionals; creation of mentor pool for student innovators; networking with peers, national entrepreneurship development organisations; organizing hackathons, idea competitions, and challenges across industries. Most of these activities are already being conducted by LPU.
