For the academic year 2020-21, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has extended recognised postgraduate (PG) medical programmes by one year.

Institutes that provide PG medical courses may seek for renewal of their recognition after the extended period has expired.

While making an official statement on the subject, the NMC further warned that failing to seek timely renewal of recognition of PG programmes will result in the suspension of admission to PG courses. According to the NMC statement, there are three sorts of inspections for recognised PG qualifications: recognition of PG courses, recognition against increased intake of PG course, and renewal of recognition of PG course.
