New Initiatives of MDI Murshidabad 2020-21

Faculty and Non-Faculty members have suggested their views and ideas in different essential and non-essential categories of different functions. Digital transformation can help reduce cost now requiring focus on e-resources vis-a-vis physical ones, shift from physical books to eBooks and eCompendiums, encouraging maintenance of digital records and artifacts.

The COVID-19 pandemic is changing the way of functioning of different educational institutes. Smart prioritization ensures immediate impact to address COVID conditions, while preparing for the long-term. Faculty and Non-Faculty members have suggested their views and ideas in different essential and non-essential categories of different functions. Digital transformation can help reduce cost now requiring focus on e-resources vis-a-vis physical ones, shift from physical books to eBooks and eCompendiums, encouraging maintenance of digital records and artifacts.

Latest educational technologies such as online classes, virtual classes, online examinations (already introduced successfully) are advocated. Moving towards a paperless office system is advocated where the use of paper is greatly reduced with digitization. Strategic cost reduction through e-procurement is advocated. Analysis on capital expenditure has been done. Analysis on capital expenditure-buying of land, construction of new buildings, purchase of computers, library modernization, purchase of vehicles, painting of buildings have been analysed and decisions will be taken. Going forward cost optimization will remain a top priority. Non-essential expenditure will be minimized.

Other areas of importance are, Digitization, Improving efficiency through analytics, Improving data management, Inventory management, etc.

 

Great New Initiatives taken at MDIM despite COVID-19 pandemic conditions. 

1.    Launch of Online MDPs:

First Online MDP on "Finance for Non Finance Executives" was held during 25th – 27th May 2020. It was inaugurated on 25th May by Prof. (Dr.) Atmanand. Director-MDIM. Online MDP is the initiative of MDIM using the unprecedented growth of technology. 

More such Online MDPs are in the pipeline. They are going to be organized as per the plan. 

2. Online Certificate Courses:

Start of Online Certificate Courses (3-4 months). First Online Course on Project Management will start from August 2020. Two more courses like Product Management and Operation Management will also start simultaneously.  

3. Webinar Talk Series Initiated:

In view of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown, MDI Murshidabad has initiated the Webinar Talk Series by both academicians and corporate leaders for their Students, Faculty members and all other stakeholders. In this regard, we have planned to organize a series of Webinar. The inaugural session of this Webinar Talk Series was held on 28th May 2020, which was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Atmanand. Director-MDIM.

4. Online Workshop:

Ø  All India Management Association’s (AIMA’s), India Case Research Centre (ICRC) in collaboration with Management Development Institute Murshidabad (MDIM) organized an Online Workshop on “Teaching-Learning Process of Case Studies in an Online Classroom Environment” on 12 June 2020.  Prof. (Dr.) Atmanand, Director-MDI Murshidabad graced the occasion with his inaugural address. The opening remarks was given by Dr. Raj Agrawal, Director, AIMA-CME. The resource person and session faculty of the webinar was Dr.Anuja Pandey, Associate Professor, AIMA.

Upcoming:

Ø  Workshop on "Analytics & Business Intelligence Tools" will be held during 13rd July 2020 - 31st July 2020 (6 days) for students of MDIM. Through this workshop, students would gain hands on knowledge about using Analytics & BI Tools, which would help them in their placements and the skill to enhance their quality of work in in not only their classroom projects but also their future workplaces. 

5. Introduction of Online International Conferences (25th & 26th September 2020):

First Online International Conference on Business, IT, and Enterprise Architecture ICBIT 2020 will be held on 25th & 26th September 2020. The theme of the online conference is “Resurgence of Business and Economy-Post Covid-19”. The ICBIT 2020 conference will foster the multidisciplinary discussion about Digitalization and Business Management from both the scientific and practitioner perspectives, and its impact on current enterprises. Our goal is to inspire researchers to share theoretical and practical knowledge of different aspects related to Digitalization, Data Science, and Security, and Businesses. 

 6. Installation of Digital Platforms:

Installation of unique digital platforms have been done for conducting various academic activities, like online classes, online examinations and short/medium term online certificate courses.

Ø    Cisco WebEx platform (Moodle integrated)

Ø     MS Team

Ø     Zoom

An Online Training was conducted by CISCO on WebEx for all faculty and staff on 1st June, 2020.

 7. Global Opportunities at MDI Murshidabad:

MDI Murshidabad (MDIM) strives to make Change Masters and Thought Leaders. MDIM with this goal offers global opportunities for our students through a multicultural learning environment.  In this sensitive time, MDIM has partnered with the SOAS University of London, the United Kingdom to offer our students a Global Learning environment through niche "Online International Certificate Programs". Managers must strive to think globally and widen their personal and intellectual horizons even in the most difficult of times. Learning has no boundaries and internalization efforts at MDIM are a showcase for the same. 

 8. Accreditation & Ranking:

Ø  CRISIL has graded MDI Murshidabad as A** (A double star) at National Level and A*** (A triple star) at State Level (WB) for the year 2020-21.

Ø  NHRDN has ranked MDI Murshidabad as No.1 in the category of Emerging Business Schools in India in the year 2019.

Ø  NBA: MDI Murshidabad is also applying for NBA Accreditation of PGPM programme in August 2020. 

9. Faculty Development Initiative during Lockdown:

·          Basic Certificate Online Workshop on HR Analytics organized by NHRDN during 22-26 June, 2020

·          FDP on "How to Teach Online" organized by IIM – Indore from 6th to 11th July, 2020.

·         One week (Online) Basic Certificate Course on Labour Laws organized by NHRDN during 4-8 May, 2020.               

10. MDI Murshidabad Alumni Association:

The registration of MDI Murshidabad Alumni Association under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act of 1961 is under process. 

Docket Number has been created for online registration of our Alumni Association in the Government of West Bengal website for Society registration.  

11. Online Publication of MDIM Journal:

The Inaugural issue of MDIM Journal, “MDIM Business Review” is published. It is uploaded on the MDIM website.

12. International Conferences (28-29 November 2020):

Third International Conference on “Sustainability Development: A Value Chain Perspective”, (SDVP-20) will be held at Management Development Institute on 28-29 November 2020.
