As the nation grappled with the pandemic, the healthcare sector underwent immense pressure. From the clinical community to allied services, to the policy and regulatory framework, all stakeholder groups identified gaps and acknowledged the need for improving healthcare delivery. The unprecedented times have highlighted the importance of reforming policies, upgrading infrastructure, increasing economic investments, and constantly upskilling healthcare professionals in order to reimagine healthcare delivery to meet the demands of the future.

To help tackle the urgent shortage of skilled professionals and to power, the digital health economy, high-quality health and healthcare education must become more widely accessible. 

On this World Health Day, Coursera shares a list of a few popular health-related courses: 

Covid-19 Contact Tracing by John Hopkins University

The Covid-19 crisis has created an unprecedented need for contact tracing across the country, requiring thousands of people to learn key skills quickly. In this course, learners will learn about the science of SARS-CoV-2, including the infectious period, identifying some of the most common barriers to contact tracing efforts -- along with strategies to overcome them

International Women's Health and Human Rights by Stanford University

The course focuses on women’s health and human rights issues from infancy through old age, including information about positive interventions relating to those issues. Learners will be able to gain knowledge on women’s rights, education, reproductive health, women in war and refugee settings, and engaging in communities. 

Foundational Skills for Communicating About Health by University of Michigan

Learners will develop the skills to analyse and tailor a communication effort for different audiences, develop clear messages, create logical and compelling stories, and understand and apply important considerations. This course is valuable for both beginning and experienced health professionals who need to communicate effectively with other professionals, patients, policymakers, or the broader public.

Essentials of Global Health by Yale University

Learners will gain a comprehensive introduction to global health. The course will be global in coverage but with a focus on low and middle-income countries, the health of the poor, and health disparities. Particular attention will be paid throughout the course to health systems issues, the linkages between health and development, and health matters related to global interdependence. 

The Challenges of Global Health by Duke University

This course is taught by Dr David Boyd, an award-winning professor at Duke University’s Global Health Institute. It is designed to provide a comprehensive but concise foundation for understanding Global Health problems and solutions.
