VIPS Delhi Kick Starts Annual Media Festival Spandan 2020
Spandan, the media festival covers a wide range of competitions, webinars and new learning opportunities.
The world is going through a pandemic which has directly affected the academic lives of all the students be it school going kids or college going adults. Midst of which the media department of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS) of IPU e-organised its annual fest ‘Spandan’.
Spandan started with the event called Media Panchayat, where the dean Dr. Charulata Singh along with Chairperson Siddharth Mishra of VIPS, had a panel discussion about Information to Misinformation in today’s media with journalists, Anant Vijay, Columnist, Dainik Jagaran; Sumit Pande, Assoc Exec Editor, News18, and Satish N Singh, Veteran TV Journalist. The discussion was the opening event of the fest followed by Screenplay Writing Webinar with Anu Singh Choudhary, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Director, Dopamine Media and Entertainment, alongside there was another webinar, Madhubani Art Workshop conducted with Manisha Jha, National Award Winner, Madhubani Artist.
The pandemic has somehow put a halt to the entire semester of students, sitting at home and pursuing degrees is not an easy task but is the only option when the world is suffering from corona and still waiting for vaccine to roll out. In times like these it becomes important to take into account the importance of student mental health and what better way of being happy than experiencing the college fests sitting at home. Spandan, the media festival covers a wide range of competitions, webinars and new learning opportunities. The festival is going to take place for three days, 3rd December to 5th December during which there are going to be a lot of activities involving some famous media personalities.
As creatively advertised by the team of Spandan, there were competitions conducted after a short break, these competitions were conducted while keeping in mind that the participants were performing over online platform. There was a quiz trivia for all the Marvel Comic fans, alongside ran the RJ Hunt Competition with the famous RJ Errol, who shared his experiences and anecdotes with the audience.
As if these were not entertaining enough Spandan had Photography and caption writing competition which gave the budding photography enthusiasts a good spark to light the fire within themselves. There was a workshop for all the bookworms and writers-in-learning with published Writers and Authors, which was again insightful and full of learning opportunities.
With a bang the first day of Spandan ended with the Fashion Event, conducting and showcasing a fusion of Indian Culture, dance and music, everything being colourful, different and absolutely entertaining. The team of Spandan consisting of 2nd and 3rd year students of BJMC and the faculty of mass communications of VIPS did a commendable job, smooth running of the event online while going live on social media platforms such as Facebook and YouTube. Spandan is definitely the event you want to invest your time in, it still has two days to go.
