Want To Help The Environment? Start With These 5 Courses
Coursera highlights five of its courses this World Environment Day for those starting the eco-friendly journey
The Living Planet report calculates that humans are using 30 per cent more resources than the Earth can replenish each year, leading to deforestation, degraded soils, polluted air and water, and dramatic declines in numbers of fish and other species. Climate change is further accelerated by population growth, global warming, and the current global health crisis.
In recent years, there has been an encouragement for, and realisation among, young people to learn more about climate change, its challenges and threats, and ways to prevent it. As responsible citizens, it is every person’s responsibility to switch to more sustainable ways of living and show individual responsibility for preserving nature, its resources, and the environment.
Universities and institutes are now offering courses on global warming, greenhouse gasses, renewable energy, and carbon footprint, among other global challenges that we are currently facing. For individuals keen to get a better understanding of the factors that cause environmental damage, and how to prevent it, there are courses available online from some of the world’s top universities.
This World Environment Day (June 5), here is a curated list of some of these top courses on Coursera:
