Army Institute of Management Kolkata (AIMK) organised a discussion on the Role of Mathematics in Colonial India and Discrimination hosted by Director of The Centre for Studies in Social Sciences Calcutta
AIMK has made advancements in conducting talks and deliberations on interdisciplinary themes, to the level of fusing fields of pure science with the discipline of management, as indicated in National Education Policy 2020.
Dr Rosinka Chaudhuri, Director, Centre for Studies in Social Sciences Calcutta (CSSSC), recently held an exclusive conversation on Mathematics and Discrimination in Colonial India at the Army Institute of Management in Kolkata.
“The event was initiated by highlighting how math and geometry can shape human existence by connecting geometry to space and arithmetic to time,” Dr Abhishek Kumar, Principal, AIMK, averred.
“Radhanath Sikdar, Indian mathematician life, achievements, and role as Chief Computer of the Trigonometry Society of India. His contribution to calculating Mt Everest's height and his legal battle against a magistrate's misuse of official employees,” Prof (Dr) Chaudhuri, Dept of Cultural studies, shared.
