Karnam Malleswari To Be Vice-Chancellor Of Sports University
Delhi's new project, the Sports University will see India's, first woman Olympic medalist as its Vice-Chancellor

Karnam Malleswari is, now retired, weightlifter. She was the pride of India when she won the Bronze medal at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. She lifted 110kgs and 130 kgs in the 'Snatch' and 'Clean and Jerk' categories, respectively.
She has won several medals, gold, silver and bronze in the World Championships and Asian Games in weightlifting between 1993-1998
Malleswari now joins Delhi's new project, the Sports University, taking on the role of Vice-Chancellor. The bill for the university was passed in 2019 and is said to offer graduation, postgraduation and doctorate degrees in sports.
Atishi Singh in a tweet announcing this appointment stated, "I'm sure that under her leadership this University will produce many Olympic medalists just like her"
