University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) also known as Sir M Visvesvaraya Engineering University was decreed an Autonomous Institution of State Eminence by the Government of Karnataka as per the NEP framework. Chief Minister of Karnataka Basvaraj Bommai and Minister for Higher Education, Dr Ashwath Narayan inaugurated the newly renovated campus.

The event also commemorated Engineer’s Day that marked the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya’s, a diwan of the former Mysore kingdom who is credited with pioneering civil engineering in the state.
